I've been a bit remiss in blogging recently for a number of reasons, not the least of which is an attempt to delve into the secrets of PHP, MySQL and Apache webserver. Really cool tools, but the authors seem to be a bit Windows-phobic, especially the PHP crew. Most of the documentation seems to center around Unix conventions, and makes me suspect not a few Linux zealots are involved. What really got the blood boiling was the lack of a simple ZIP version of the PHP documentation. ZIP has been around forever, but these boxos can't seem to be troubled to keep a straight ZIP compression utility around so Windows users don't have to go searching all over the Web for a BZ2, .tar or .gz decompressor. Like it or not, most of the world runs on Windows platforms, and there are people out there who use Windows. But the PHP group appears so afraid of Redmond getting a single penny that they have to be obstinate about merely providing documentation for their product in a windows format.

I feel better now.

-? Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (NV) upon hearing reports that the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds will go bankrupt even earlier than predicted.
