Where would we be without Uncle Kofi?

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan stated Thursday: "It appears there is no functioning government in Iraq at the moment."

Really? I would never have known. Of course, now that the U.S. has done the U.N.'s dirty work yet again, Uncle Kofi has the gall to 'remind' the Coalition "the (Security) Council has also reaffirmed that The Hague Regulation and the Geneva Conventions apply to this conflict and that the coalition has a responsibility for the welfare of the people in this area. And I am sure that will be respected." I wonder where these sentiments were when Saddam was thumbing his nose at U.N. Security Council resolutions for twelve years and his troops were opening fire upon their own civilians, pushing them out in front then firing on Coalition troops, waving white flags to lure Coalition forces into range before opening fire, disguising themselves as civilians and blowing up taxis at Coalition checkpoints.

Not to mention that the "non-nein-nyet" Triumvirate of Greed is demanding the U.N. play a central role in Iraq's reconstruction. I'm sorry, but America didn't spend it's blood and money so the French, Germans and Russians can preserve their oil contracts, military sales and economic ties with a regime no longer in existence.

"Today's report confirms that, despite White House scare tactics, Social Security remains sound for decades to come.."

-? Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (NV) upon hearing reports that the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds will go bankrupt even earlier than predicted.
