I thought Saddam was disarming...

I've been noting in many of the news reports about the coming war with Iraq a great deal of reporting on the possible use of chemical weapons should U.S. troops invade. But the presence of chemical weapons is one of the reason we've been futzing around at the U.N. for six months. If Iraq is supposedly disarming as Hans Blix said, then Iraq SHOULD NOT HAVE any chemical weapons. If he were to use them, it is a concrete admission he has been lying to the inspectors, lying to the Secuirty Council, lying to the world. Thier use only proves President Bush was right all along, the invasion is far more than justified, and France, Russia and China - not to mention every war protestor in the world - wind up with egg on thier face. The nightmare scenario for the left is a relatively short, bloodless war that turns up concrete evidence of prohibited weapons. What is more concrete than actually USING prohibited weapons? NBC's Dateline last night did a whole show on the run-up to war. In one segment they mentioned the possibility Iraq might spread chemical weapons using umanned drone aircraft. Such equipment was supposed to be declared last December according to Security Council Resolution 1441, and Iraq said they didn't have any. Blix buried thier existence in a 173-page report to the Security Council, and when brought to light by the U.S., the Iraqis pooh-poohed them as test vehicles. If they are test vehicles, the troops haven't got much to worry about. If they are operational, then that is one more evidence that Saddam was lying to the U.N. - a direct violation of Resolution 1441.

NOW they want in...

Reuters is reporting France will join the war if Iraq uses chemical or biological weapons.

Excuse me, but if you wine-besotted, cheese-eating, anti-American, obstructionist hatemongers wanted to help, you should have gotten your act together and quit pitching a hissy fit in the Security Council.

With all due respect, Mr. Chirac - which is to say, none whatsoever - you can take your help and @^#*&^# off.

"Today's report confirms that, despite White House scare tactics, Social Security remains sound for decades to come.."

-? Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (NV) upon hearing reports that the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds will go bankrupt even earlier than predicted.
