Coming up for a breath...

Posting here has died a bit because I've been posting over at The Command Post. It's a group warblog detailing news and links regarding the war. I'd briefly considered doing a running account of the war, but a lot of folks are doing that (such as Blogs of War).

The live TV coverage seems to have died a bit, but many radio stations are live on the battlefield, and of course the Internet is hoppin' with news.

Coalition forces are starting to hit real opposition now. Reports of casualties and even POWs are rolling in. No doubt the left will jump all over these as signs the war is actually failing.

The Hollywood left is still going to conduct thier annual exercise in narcissistic self-approbation tonight. No doubt a few whiny actors will take the occasion to bash Bush while pretending to support the troops, spouting some goofy nonsense about the First Amendment (funny, I haven't heard of any bills making thier way through Congress banning political speech at Hollywood functions). What was it the hippies said in the '60s? "Tune out and turn on," or something like that? Tune out the arrogant fools and turn on the NCAA Tourney or something. The First Amendment gives them the right to speak, but it doesn't give them the right to an audience.

"Today's report confirms that, despite White House scare tactics, Social Security remains sound for decades to come.."

-? Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (NV) upon hearing reports that the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds will go bankrupt even earlier than predicted.
