Does America Stand Alone?
The Washington Post - like many other liberal outlets - is claiming a big European anti-war sentiment.
Yet, from the above article only 3 NATO nations oppose sending support to Turkey to prevent an attack by Iraq. The remaining 16 support the idea.
That means 84% of the NATO members support the US:
Next, we look at the European Union
If that isn't enough, 10 of the 12 nations who are candidates for EU membership signed a statement supporting America's position on Iraq:
The Post-Gazette has a nice piece of liberal anti-Bush nonsense. They seem to think that it is President Bush's policies that are causing the crisis at NATO. With 16 of 19 (84%) NATO members and at a minimum 18 of 27 (66%) EU members supporting America and not France and Germany, the blame for this crisis lies squarely on the shoulders of the French and Germans.
Of course, little mention is made of the fact that France pulled out of NATO's command structure in 1965 - the only country to have ever done so, and Belgium wouldn't even supply ammunition during the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait.
Looking at facts, it is France, Germany and Belgium who stand alone in Europe, not the U.S.
